I am continually and pleasantly surprised at the compassion and awareness of the Middle and High School kids that I work with at church.
These kids are up on things and very aware of what is going on in their world. The things they have to be aware of are so much more serious than when I was their age.
And yet, in spite of all the challenges, many parents are still managing to raise compassionate kids.
We made a poster for a dear church member who has a long road ahead in rehab after an accident and a number of bouts of pneumonia. They made a beautiful poster for her-/ and had many compassionate questions about her recovery. I look around at the things young people are doing to make our world a better place and it humbles me.
We must do everything we can to make a better world for our children ❤️
It is a crime that these kids have to practice safety drills in school that invite them to act as if an active shooter were in their school.
That teachers (and by this I mean ME-and my colleagues) have to fear getting shot at their jobs or figure out how they can hide their students in a closet or back hallway.
It is enough of a challenge to teach these kids to be kind and hardworking and aware and AWAKE. Now, we need to keep an eye on the front door and the parking lot- while we are trying to run a class.
SOMETHING needs to change.
I am WITH THE MARCHERS❤️
Well said, dear friend.
